CABO FISHING TUTORIAL VIDEOS

FISHING LIVE BAITS

BRIDLING LARGE LIVE BAITS FOR CABO FISHING
Live baiting for big billfish is one of the most effective means of targeting black and blue marlin... swordfish, too! In this video tutorial we'll show you the basics of bridling a skipjack tuna for slow trolling on both outriggers to keep the bait near the surface and on the downrigger to get the bait where the fish may be holding. Thermal breaks create fish highways – places where bait fish school up against defined temperature differences. Sometimes getting a bait to swim at just the right depth puts a tasty meal right in front of a hungry billfish!

KITES FOR TUNA!

A SOUTH FLORIDA FISHING TECHNIQUE WORKS IN CABO TOO
When we're out chasing tuna we're often finding them following schools of porpoise. Why? The porpoise use their echolocation talents to locate big schools of bait and the tuna know it. So they follow them to find food. What really gets them going is when the porpoise push the bait fish up to the surface and begin to corral them. The action of baits crashing the surface can bring insane tuna boils and bites. That's a good time to send up the kites. Kites keep your baits skipping across the water's surface mimicking the bait they're eating. Boom! Get ready for a big bite that never gets old.

HOW TO ON WAHOO

TACTICS TO CATCH TOOTHY SPEEDSTERS AND MORE
If you ever had a wahoo steak, you know what great eating they are. But the enjoyment of eating them pales in comparison to catching them. One of the fastest fish in the ocean, wahoo often school up and go hunting in large numbers. The trick to getting them to bite is presenting the right lure at the right speed, and, using lures that create noise or wild action can increase your odds of hooking up. An added bonus? Dorado (mahi-mahi) can also be hunting alongside the hoo's, and who doesn't like Dorado, perhaps the best tasting fish for famous Baja fish tacos!

CIRCLE HOOKS WORK!

PERFECT FOR CATCHING... EVEN BETTER FOR RELEASING!
As responsible anglers, Pochos crews know that the bounty the sea provides is not an unlimited resource. Conserving that resource is of paramount importance if we all want to fish for generations to come. That's why we use circle hooks, alot. The unique design allows for excellent bite to hook-up ratios and give us the opportunity to decide which fish to keep and which to release, healthy and unharmed. The key is not to set the hook with big swings of the rod but to just let the fish take the bait and swim away. A few seconds count, then push the drag pressure up. Bingo. You're on!
